There can be many reasons why children lose their hair: In the case of cancer, chemotherapy causes all the hair to fall out. The disease \u00abalopecia areata\u00bb, circular hair loss, also causes hair to gradually fall out. And unfortunately, children also suffer from alopecia areata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wig can change that - especially if it looks like real hair. Real hair wigs are hand-knotted and can therefore cost several thousand francs, a price that is often prohibitive for the parents of sick children. Health insurance companies do pay for wigs for women and children, but in most cases only those made of synthetic hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wearing comfort of a human hair wig is much better and the appearance is also very different from a synthetic hair wig. Synthetic hair quickly looks like a \u00abdoll's hairstyle\u00bb on children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What do I need to consider when donating hair?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hair should be at least 25 - 30 centimeters long, but preferably 40 centimeters. A few centimetres of length are lost when the wigs are made; a shoulder-length wig can be made from a hair donation of 30 centimetres. In general, the longer the hair, the better. For a human hair wig of medium length, you need three to five hair donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for the hair to be used for a wig, certain quality requirements must be met: the cut hair must be \u00abremi\u00bb, i.e. the cut ends of the hair must be on one side and the ends of the hair on the other. If the hairs are lying in a mess, the opposing layers of scales (like two pine cones) would rub against each other and get caught up in each other, resulting in severe matting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hair stored in this way can no longer be detangled and processed. Before cutting, tie the hair into one (or more) \u00abponytails\u00bb, then plait it into a plait and cut it off above the well-knotted base of the plait. This prevents the hair from tangling or matting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
